The three angels who visited Abraham at Mamre (Gen 18) seated around a table with a single cup, the most celebrated image of the Holy Trinity in the Orthodox tradition. Painted for the Trinity Monastery of Saint Sergius, it was held up by the Stoglav Council of 1551 as a model for iconographers.
